What you should know before you breed your mare!
  • If you mess up and the mare dies while carrying the foal you lose one karma point.
  • You can start breeding your mare as early as 2 1/2 years of age, but her skills and BLUP will be very low and the foal, therefore, will have a lower GP and inborn skills.
  • The higher the GP, skills and BLUP of both parents, the higher the GP and inborn skills of the foal.
  • It costs 200 equus for the vet to deliver your foal - make sure you have the money.
  • It takes 12 months from covering to the birth of the foal.
  • The mare cannot breed again for 10 months following birthing.
  • It is believed that keeping your mare healthy during pregnancy produces a better foal.

Some important terms that will help you breed your mare.
  • BLUP - Best Linear Unbiassed Potential.  BLUP is a scale from -100 to +100.  All foals start with -100 and the BLUP can be raised by training, competitions and aging.  A horse will reach 100 BLUP when the top three skills have been raised as high as they can go, the horse has placed 1st in 20 competitions and is 10 years or older.
  • GP - Genetic Potential.  This a number assigned to all foals when they are born that indicates the potential of their skills.  The skills can be raised past the genetic potential by a small margin.  The genetic potential determines how many stars a horse has.  It can be raised a small amount by playing games with your foal from 8 months to 1 year 6 months.
  • Inborn Skills (also known as Innate Skills) - These are the additional skills that a foal is born with if the parents have positive BLUP.  The higher the BLUP of the parents the higher the inborn skills of the foal.  Inborn skills are in addition to the possible skills that a horse can achieve.  The inborn skills can be doubled with Aphrodite's Tears from the Black Market.
